Yunku Intelligent Unveils Next-Generation Battery Swapping Station: SMS Technology Makes EV Swapping Truly Inclusive

2026 04/08

As the global micromobility industry expands rapidly, one major barrier remains: most smart swapping stations require a smartphone and an app. Yunku Intelligent today breaks that barrier with the launch of its SMS-controlled battery swapping station, a system that works for literally anyone with a mobile phone.

From App-Only to Text-Only: A Paradigm Shift

While competitors focus on app-driven ecosystems, Yunku Intelligent has developed a swapping station that operates via basic SMS text messages. Users simply send a short code to the station number, receive an unlock confirmation, and access a fully charged battery. The process is identical for both premium smartphones and $10 feature phones.

“In many countries where e-scooters and e-bikes are exploding – such as India, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Vietnam – smartphone penetration is still below 50% among delivery riders and daily commuters,” said a Yunku product manager. “Our battery swapping station was designed specifically for those users. We believe swapping should not require an internet connection or a touchscreen.”

Already Deployed: Real-World Success

Early pilot units of the SMS swapping cabinet have been installed in Manila (Philippines) and Nairobi (Kenya), serving food delivery riders and tuk-tuk drivers. Feedback indicates a 40% reduction in swap time compared to app-based competitors, with zero user complaints about phone compatibility.
